Shalom Christian Academy recognizes that school life includes more than classroom instruction. We seek to provide opportunities for students to interact and build relationships with faculty and other students. Traditions such as the annual fifth grade faculty-student kickball game, spirit weeks and mini courses enhance our community and reinforce our mission.
Open houses provide a wonderful opportunity to visit classes, talk to teachers and see facilities. You see our school in action. Open houses encourage you to arrive when you can, leave when you must.

Our Bear Hunt is a special event inviting future kindergarten students and their parents to visit. The event takes about an hour. Students interact with teachers and experience the world famous “Bear Hunt”–yes, they each reach a special SCA stuffed bear.
Shalom Showcase gives new and present parents an opportunity to experience the SCA educational vision.
Showcase runs from 6:30-8:30 PM. Every 15 minutes there are interactive presentations at the elementary, middle school and high school levels.
Many classrooms are set up to reveal the education experience here. Music, drama, art, photography, poetry and computer effectiveness are all highlighted.
Teachers and administrators are here to answer questions. Parents of all grades are here. It is the most complete view of our school and it comes at night.
Each spring high school drama students produce a play that is open to the public. Two of the shows use a dinner theater format. Two shows are the production only. Past productions have included “Little Women”, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “The Wizard of Oz”.
Elementary students are divided into lower (K – 2nd grade) and upper (3rd – 5th grade) for two chorale programs per year. At the spring program, students from the Growing Tree Preschool join lower elementary students for part of the event.
Middle school chorus, band and drama each present two programs per year. The spring program is typically a musical with chorus and drama students working together.
Chorale students present a Christmas program. High school band also performs at that same event. In the spring, chorale invites an outside singing group to present a concert with them.
