Dutchfest Brings SCA Community Together, Lowers Tuition Costs
From Shalom Christian Academy Administrator Mrs. Angie Petersheim –
Every May, Shalom Christian Academy kicks off the Shalom Dutchfest event – our school’s biggest fundraiser. This year, Dutchfest takes place on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6. All of the events are held on the Shalom Campus, 126 Social Island Road in Chambersburg. The Shalom Dutchfest event brings our school family together as we provide good food, auction items, crafts, children’s activities, and more for friends, family and neighbors in this area.
More than 200 volunteers participate including board members, administration, teachers, staff, parents and students—we work to make this a memorable experience for those who visit. There is energy and enthusiasm as people see Dutchfest as a means to reflect our school in a positive way to the surrounding community.
Dutchfest is a major fundraiser for the school. Tuition to Shalom does not cover the full cost. This event helps to keep tuition costs down so that more families can choose to send their children to Shalom. We are thankful to the many local businesses that donate items for our many Dutchfest auctions. Without their generous support, the Dutchfest would not be a success.
The event is jam-packed with exciting auctions, fun children’s activities, and amazing food. There is something for everyone. This year, people can preview and begin bidding on most of our auction items in the days ahead of the actual event. Hurley Auction has generously teamed with us to provide this service.
