Current Openings at Shalom Christian Academy for 2018-2019 School Year:
First Grade Teacher
This is a full-time position during the school year teaching core subjects in a self-contained classroom. Students leave the classroom for art, music, and physical education. A degree in elementary education is required.
Secondary Science Teacher
This individual will teach several subjects including biology, anatomy, environmental science, and chemistry. The candidate must possess a secondary education degree. A background in science is preferred.
This half-time position provides emotional and spiritual counseling to middle and high school students. This includes meeting with individuals, coordinating small groups, and developing lessons for the larger student body. Experience in issues with body image, eating disorders, and cliques is helpful. Candidate must have a minimum of a 4 year degree in a field related to counseling.
The person in this 3 day/week position collaborates with teachers to support their use of technology in delivery of curricula through a variety of instructional methods. This is done through individual training and mentoring as well as leading professional development sessions, and find outside training opportunities. He/she is able to identify trends in software, curriculum, teaching strategies, and other educational areas. An education degree is required for this position.
The person in this 2 day/week position oversees the PreK – grade twelve curriculum to ensure it meets the overall goals of Shalom Christian Academy. This individual sets the curriculum review schedule, appoints the committee for a subject review, and leads in the process. Collaborating with the principal and teacher, the coordinator researches new resources as well as reviews the scope and sequence, textbooks, and content. The position also requires evaluation of standardized test scores and making curricular adjustments. An education degree is required for this position.
Substitute teachers needed on an as needed basis in all areas of the school. Shalom prefers individuals with education degrees; however, will consider someone with a degree in another field.
Substitute Bus Driver

Qualifications for Faculty
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in education.
- A current state and/or ACSI certification is helpful. Necessary skills include the use of a Smartboard, iPad, and Google.
- Alignment with Shalom Christian Academy’s mission and values. (Read our Statement of Faith)
- Ability to work collaboratively with a community of teachers.
- Effective communication skills with students, parents, and others.
