E-Learning

E-Learning Days
by Administrator Angie Petersheim

Shalom teachers have been using Google Classroom as a platform to provide information and resources to students as a supplement to classroom learning.   This year, we will utilize Google Classroom for e-learning days when there is inclement weather.  This allows us to count this as a school day which does not need to be made up.  Teachers will be prepared to deliver lessons via the internet on those days when faculty and students cannot physically be present due to weather.

Middle and High School Students

  • Teachers will post assignments to Google classroom by 9:00 am.
  • Students should log on to Google Classroom for each of the classes scheduled for that day.
  • Students should complete the work the teacher has posted within 2 school days to accommodate those families where the internet may be down due to weather or have multiple students who need to use one computer.
  • Work for each class will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. This does not include homework.
  • Teachers are available via email for any questions between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.
  • Students are held accountable for the material and it will not necessarily be repeated in class.

Lower Elementary Students

  • PreK students will not have any assignments on e-learning days.
  • Students will have “Blizzard Bags” which will have activities that supplement and enrich current lessons.
  • These should take approximately one hour to complete.
  • These are due on the day students return to class.
  • Teachers are available via email for any questions between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.

Upper Elementary Students

  • Teachers will post assignments to Google classroom by 9:00 am.

  • Students should complete the work the teacher has posted within 2 school days to accommodate those families where the internet may be down due to weather or have multiple students who need to use one computer.
  • Classwork will take approximately 2 hours to complete. This does not include homework.
  • Teachers are available via email for any questions between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.
  • Students are held accountable for the material and it will not necessarily be repeated in class.
